After disappearing in the summer of 2020, a California teen abruptly returned home earlier this year. But now, an investigation into his disappearance has found he was living with a teacher.

Michael Ramirez, who was 15 years old at the time of his disappearance, was reported missing on June 9, 2020, in the Sacramento area.

At the time, police requested the public's assistance in finding the teen. Police shared that he was last seen leaving his Rancho Cordova home on May 18 after having an argument with family.

After being gone for almost a year, Ramirez "inexplicably returned home" on March 11 of this year, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department.

Police launched an investigation into his 10-month-disappearance, which resulted in the arrest of Holga Castillo Olivares, a 61-year-old employee of the Sacramento City Unified School District.

Ramirez had reportedly been living with Olivares the entirety of the 10 months, according to the boy's aunt Katte Smith, KCRA reported.

"You can't just hide someone's kid and think that's OK," Smith told KCRA. "When we heard she had been arrested, we were floored."

The sheriff's office reported that the second-grade teacher was arrested on suspicion of detention of a minor with the intent to conceal from parents and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Anyone with information is asked to call Rancho Cordova Police Department at 916-362-5115.
