Police in Mansfield, Ohio, are seeking the public’s help to locate a vehicle linked to a deadly baby shower shooting Sunday.

According to a Tuesday press release from the Mansfield Division of Police’s Major Crimes Division, detectives are on the lookout for “a 2012 Black Dodge Journey with a ‘ZACS’ sticker on the rear door and possibly a ‘ZACS’ license plate.”

Previously, the department said that officers responded at 2:24 a.m. Sunday to the area of 151 Blymyer Ave., where they located four gunshot wound victims. One died and the others were transported to a local hospital. At that time, they said that suspects fled in a dark-colored vehicle.

Murder warrants were issued for suspects in the case. By 2 p.m. Monday, Mansfield police had apprehended the two suspects: Michael Lee Coffee Jr., 29, and Avanta Shemar Dakota Payne Adams, 22.

“These arrests are a direct result of excellent work by the entire Major Crimes Section of the Mansfield Police Department and members of the Community,” said a press release. “It is the cooperation of the community and the diligence of the Major Crimes Bureau that both solved and apprehended the suspects in less than 48 hours.”

A report in the Mansfield News Journal identified the man fatally shot at the baby shower as 25-year-old Jahasee Cobb. Bob Ball, a Richland County coroner’s investigator, said Cobb’s body was to be taken to Montogomery County Medical Center for autopsy.

“We have little details at this point other than there was some type of an altercation between several subjects,” Assistant Mansfield police Chief Jason Bammann said Sunday morning while Mansfield police held its annual Cops N Kids clothing event for children in need at Walmart on Possum Run Road, per the Mansfield News Journal report. “It appears that maybe subjects left and returned with guns. And there were multiple shots fired.”

He also said first responders described the scene as “chaotic,” and that extra support had to be called in.

According to the Mansfield News Journal, both face felony first degree murder charges. The outlet also said that each was issued a $1 million bond Tuesday in Mansfield Municipal Court and both remained in the Richland County Jail at that time.

Police shared a photo of the vehicle they are searching for, taken days before Cobb’s death

“The vehicle should now have significant rear-end damage consistent with that of backing into a utility pole,” said authorities. “The vehicle also has an Ohio Temporary plate Q864535. If found please contact your local agency or Det. Ronee Swisher 419-755-9432.”
