
A female bartender in Seattle was attacked with a sharpened broomstick after she asked the potential customer to show her his COVID-19 vaccination card, KOMO News reports, citing police.
The bartender suffered injuries to her face and was treated at the scene after the attack occurred at around 5:15 p.m. on Monday at a bar in the 500 block of King Street.
Seattle, like many other major cities, mandates the proof of vaccination to enter certain indoor and outdoor events in King County.
The police report said the suspect fled on feet after the incident, although investigators said he could have escaped on a King County Metro light rail train.
Seattle police were still searching for the suspect on Tuesday. Anyone with information about the attack was asked to call police at 206-233-5000.
King County has reported 2,410 new cases of COVID-19 on Dec. 28 with a seven-day average of 2,029 cases. There have been 19,009 new cases in the county since Dec. 15.
