A house party that had more than 100 teenagers in attendance on Saturday turned fatal when two people were killed after shots were fired, police shared, adding that six more were injured.

The party took place in Douglasville, a city nearly 20 miles from Atlanta. Police shared that the shooting occurred after a confrontation broke out at the house party.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office shared in a news release that the information surrounding the incident is “very limited” and that anyone with knowledge of what occurred should come forward.

After the shooting began, teenagers at the party fled the house and were seen in neighboring yards, WXIA reported.

The homeowner shared with the media outlet that the party was a Sweet 16 birthday party for their daughter. The owner says they chose to end the party at 10 p.m. after they discovered some party-goers were smoking marijuana, WXIA reported.

It isn’t known if adults were present in the home when the shooting started. The owner did note that the shooting took place in the cul-de-sac outside the home.

The investigation into the shooting remains “very active” at this time, the sheriff’s office shared.
