NEW YORK (WCBS 880) — Police are searching for a man who they said stabbed a straphanger on a Bronx train after he accidentally bumped into him while taking a seat.
The two men were riding on a northbound D train on Sunday at 8:40 p.m. when the 33-year-old victim moved to sit in an open seat next to the suspect, police said.
While taking the seat, authorities noted that the victim accidentally made contact with the unidentified individual, causing him to become irate.
The man then pulled out a sharp weapon and stabbed the victim once in the buttock, police said.
The victim was treated at and released from St. Barnabas Hospital following the incident.
The suspect exited the transit system and fled the scene on foot.

He is described as being between 25 and 35 years old, 6'1", with blonde highlighted dreads. He was last seen wearing a black shirt, light blue jeans, and multi-colored sneakers.
