Do you like the state where you live? Are you looking for a new state to move to? If so, look no further as a new report has broken down the worst and best states to be a resident of in 2022.

According to the annual Best State Rankings report from US News, the worst state to live in in 2022 is Louisiana, and the best is Washington, based on a number of different factors.

The World Health Organization measures quality of life as how people perceive their position in society and how they believe they can obtain their needs, meet their goals, and address their concerns.

When identifying the best state rankings, public data and surveying were used to determine the best quality of life and effectiveness of governance for residents across the country, according to US News.

The report looked at health care, education, economy, infrastructure, opportunity, financial stability, crime and corrections, and the natural environment.

The remaining top ten best states to live in are Minnesota at two, followed by Utah, New Hampshire, Idaho, Nebraska, Virginia, Wisconsin, Massachusetts, and Florida.

At the other end of the fifty is Kentucky at 41, followed by South Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Alaska, Alabama, West Virginia, New Mexico, and Mississippi.

The factors used to determine the ranking often influence each other, with poor economic rankings affecting money invested in things like education and healthcare. This usually results in the bottom 10 remaining in the bottom 10.

However, the top ten fluctuate quite often, with states dipping in and out of the higher rankings for best states to live in.
