A hot air balloon crash in a Wisconsin town that may have collided with a train has resulted in three people suffering life-threatening injuries, according to officials.
The incident occurred around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, and police with the Burlington Police department responded to reports of the balloon getting hit by a train, according to chief Brian Zmudzinksi.

Zmudzinksi said in a statement that witnesses indicated the hot air balloon was “in distress” when it collided with a Canadian National train.
There has not been a comment from Canadian National on the incident, and it is not known if the train was moving when the two collided.
Police shared that all three of those injured were adults, and two of them were flown to a Milwaukee area hospital by helicopter.
Zmudzinksi shared that the cause of the crash is currently under investigation. He also said that federal transportation authorities are involved along with Canadian National.
