Minnesota lawmakers return to the state capitol o Monday for ceremonial duties, as they were able to cram in a bunch of work late Sunday night to beat the midnight adjournment deadline.
Lawmakers in the sharply divided House and Senate were able to come to a compromise on an initial bailout of $205 million for the financially strapped Hennepin County Medical Center.
A $1.2 billion bonding bill was passed to fund public building projects and an agreement for a temporary license tab fee reduction.
What didn't pass was gun safety legislation that was narrowly approved by the Senate but never voted on by the full House.
That is expected to be one of the top topics during the upcoming campaign season when all seats in both the Minnesota House and Senate are up for grabs.
Ceremonial duties at the capitol on Monday include recognizing lawmakers that are retiring from public service.
