Minneapolis police chief Maderia Arradondo is invited to San Jose for a job candidate forum.
Arradondo was named Monday night as one of six finalists for that city's police chief.
In a statement, Minneapolis city spokesman John Elder says Arradondo submitted a resume for that opening after a recruiter asked for it.
The chief reportedly has had no other contact with San Jose city leaders.
Elder also says that while Arradondo is flattered to be a candidate in San Jose, he remains committed to the city of Minneapolis.
He's been on the MPD since 1989 and was named police chief is 2017.
San Jose's recent permanent police chief, Eddie Garcia, retired last month, but has since been hired as Dallas police chief.
