A new program allows Minnesota residents to order free rapid COVID tests online, with direct delivery to their homes.
Beginning Tuesday, people can order as many as two kits, which contain four tests total, until the half-million supply is depleted.
Governor Walz says the program is a model for providing more rapid testing in the months ahead.
“Our goal has always been to ensure that when Minnesotans need a test, they can get one quickly and easily,” Walz said. “Even as case numbers decline, it’s important that Minnesotans test for COVID-19 if they are feeling sick.”
Since Sept. 2021, the state of Minnesota has secured nearly 5 million rapid at-home test kits for community partners, schools, and childcare facilities.
The state is also announcing that the home PCR tests that required lab results will be discontinued on Thursday.
Those at-home tests can still be used until their expiration dates, or through the end of the year, whichever comes first.
