Minnesota Department of Transportation staffers have spent the last couple of months narrowing down the list of 10,000 Name a Snow Plow nominees and are asking once again for votes in the third annual contest that applies public-generated nicknames on eight snow plows across the state.

“We keep our eyes out for unique names, things that are Minnesota-specific or, you know, are particularly creative,” said Jake Loesch, Director of Communications and Public Engagement for MnDOT.

Each district in the state will get a newly-named plow. Some of the finalists are “Melton John,” “Blizzo,” “Scoop! There It Is,” and “Snow Force One.”

“It’s fun,” said Loesch. “Here in Minnesota, we obviously have to find ways to get through the brutal winters, and we all know how much we rely on our snow plow drives. These are folks who work through the day and night if they have to.”

You can vote at mndot.gov/nameasnowplow through Friday, February 3.
