Not many can avoid the invite for jury duty.
Even the current resident of 1006 Summit Ave. in St. Paul got the call.
And he's complying, despite having a job that's 24/7.
"I gotta do jury check in here," said Gov. Tim Walz after he was asked by WCCO's Dave Lee about his jammed-packed Friday schedule.
In Minnesota, a prospective juror can request a one-time postponement up to nine months because of hardships that include employment and family business.
Walz didn't think twice about it.
"I signed up, and I'm in," he said.
There is that rule than anyone who purposely avoids jury duty could be subject to a fine or jail time.
Walz said he's following directions by calling in to the Ramsey County court administrator in downtown St. Paul every working day.
"I don't know how it's going to work with quarantine," Walz said, about a week after he began COVID-19 quarantine after coming in close contact to an aide that tested positive.
"It'll be interesting for me to see how they're handling it with COVID, of course a lot of jury trials haven't restarted yet," said the governor. "They will soon."
