Glen Taylor reportedly has a buyer for the Timberwolves and Lynx.
ESPN is reporting that Taylor has a letter of intent from a group headed by former major league baseball player Alex Rodriguez to buy the teams for $1.5 billion.
Joining Rodriguez in the purchase is billionaire Marc Lorre, who was head of Wal-Mart's e-Commerce Business.
The two would be limited partners at first before taking over the two basketball franchises in 2023, according to terms of the deal.
Taylor, 79, bought the Timberwolves in 1994, with the Lynx joining the WNBA in 1999.
When Taylor bought the Wolves for a reported $94 million, it came after the NBA rejected a deal that would have relocated the franchise to New Orleans.
Taylor is quoted saying that there's language in the purchase agreement that would keep the Wolves and Lynx in Minnesota.
