We've had a relatively easy go of it as far as temperatures go - so far. That's about to change. Fire up the AC for real.

It begins later this weekend. Temps are expected to rise to 90 on Sunday, and that's the appetizer as we head into July 4th week.

Monday, things are going to get brutal for those that don't like heat, says Brennan Dettmann with the National Weather Service.

"Monday will be a real wake-up call with temperatures kind of in the mid-90s and dew points up into the 70s. which would push kind of that that feels-like temperature into the 100s for much of Minnesota and western Wisconsin," says Dettmann.

Expect those summer-like temps to last all the way through the long July 4th weekend, too.

"We're going to move into this pattern which is a lot warmer for us," Dettmann explains. "So we'll continue to see this heat throughout the rest of the week. Monday looks to be kind of the peak of it, but certainly each day after that will be the same, where we're going have dangerous heat with humid conditions."

That is dangerous heat along with high humidity. But, there could be a reprieve.

"Really, the only thing that would kind of give us relief is if we have thunderstorms that kind of cool things off for us, which looks like there's a chance for them kind of throughout the whole week," Dettmann adds.
