Allen: Clinching 2-seed in AFC was 'very important'

Bills quarterback Josh Allen addressed the media following Buffalo's 40-14 victory over the Jets

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - With the 2-seed on the line in the AFC Playoff picture, the Buffalo Bills get the job done in an impressive showing of dominance against their division rivals in the New York Jets.

With the 40-14 victory at Highmark Stadium over the Jets, the Bills guarantee themselves the possibility of, at least, two home games in the playoffs. This may benefit the Bills in the end, especially after Buffalo finished with a perfect 8-0 record at home for the first time since the 1990 season.

While the stats for Bills quarterback Josh Allen were nothing fancy, he was certainly efficient by completing 16-of-27 passing attempts for 182 yards and two passing touchdowns. He also added a first quarter rushing touchdown to tie Thurman Thomas' franchise record for the most rushing scores.

Allen certainly understands the importance of locking up the No. 2 seed in the AFC standings.

"[Clinching the 2-seed in the AFC was] very important," said Allen following Sunday's win over the Jets. "Not sure what next week brings, but it gives us an option to get certain guys rest, and we'll just kind of go with the flow with whatever [general manager Brandon] Beane and [head coach Sean] McDermott are telling our guys to do. But still got to prepare like we're trying to go, and that's our game plan."
