Buffalo Bills general manager Brandon Beane met with the media on Tuesday afternoon after four of his players were deemed as close contacts of someone who tested positive for COVID-19 and, subsequently, placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.
Wide receivers Cole Beasley and Gabriel Davis, as well as defensive tackles Star Lotulelei and Vernon Butler were all sent home from the Bills' facilities on Tuesday after they were close contacts of a team trainer who tested positive for COVID-19. All four players now must serve a five-day re-entry process and must test negative for COVID-19 all five days in order to return to the team facilities.
Beane warns that this could be a situation that comes up again in the regular season.
"The unfortunate part of it is, this can happen in the regular season, even if you're not positive," he said via a Zoom conference call. "If you are a close contact to someone who [tests positive], depending on when that contact is, it's five days from when you were in close proximity to them.
"That's the world we're in. We don't love it, but we're going to try to make the most of it."
