The Buffalo Bills made a couple of coaching staff changes on Tuesday, announcing they've hired Mike Shula as a senior offensive assistant coach and promoted Eric Washington to senior defensive assistant/defensive line coach.
Shula has spent the last two seasons as the Denver Broncos’ quarterbacks coach. He worked with new Bills offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey with the Carolina Panthers from 2013 through 2017. Shula was the offensive coordinator while Dorsey was the team's quarterbacks coach.

Bills head coach Sean McDermott was the defensive coordinator in Carolina during that same time, joining the Panthers’ staff the same year as Shula in 2011, then working with both Shula and Dorsey from 2013 through 2016.
Shula is the son of Don Shula, the winningest coach in NFL history.

As for Washington, he will remain the Bills’ defensive line coach, which he's been since 2020, but adds senior defensive assistant to his title.
