Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - With the 2022 regular season set to open on Thursday night in Los Angeles against the defending Super Bowl champion Rams, the Buffalo Bills announced on Sunday the team's nine captains.
LISTEN LIVE TO WGR:
Those nine players include quarterback Josh Allen, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, center Mitch Morse, linebackers Von Miller and Tremaine Edmunds, safeties Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer, and special teamers Taiwan Jones and Tyler Matakevich.
It is the fourth-straight season where Allen has been named as an offensive captain. He is joined by Diggs, a captain for his second-straight year, and Morse, who is a first-time captain for the Bills in his fourth season in Buffalo.
Edmunds also returns as a team captain for a fourth-consecutive year on the defensive side of the football. He is joined by Poyer - who is a defensive captain for a third-straight season - as well as Hyde - two-time captain on the defense - and Miller, who earns a captaincy in his first year with the Bills.
On special teams, Matakevich is a captain for a second-straight season, while Jones will serve as a captain for a third time - twice over the past two years and another stint when he was with Buffalo during the 2018 season.
We'll have live wall-to-wall coverage of the Bills and Rams on WGR starting at 6 a.m. ET during the "Howard and Jeremy Show". Kickoff slated for 8:20 p.m. ET from SoFi Stadium with John Murphy, Eric Wood and Sal Capaccio on the call of the game.
