Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Bills have announced on Wednesday the promotion of defensive line coach Eric Washington to assistant head coach.
Washington joined the Bills in 2020 as the team's new defensive line coach after spending time with the Carolina Panthers as defensive coordinator. He then served as senior defensive assistant and defensive line coach in 2022 under Leslie Frazier.

During his time in Buffalo, the Bills defense finished first in points per-game allowed in 2021 (17.0) and fourth in 2022 (19.1).
Washington will continue to serve as defensive line coach in addition to being the new assistant head coach during the 2023 season.
The 53-year-old takes the assistant head coach role from Frazier, who has decided to take the 2023 season off from coaching. Frazier had spent the six years prior in Buffalo serving as defensive coordinator for head coach Sean McDermott.
