Greg Cosell has seen a lot of quarterbacks in his day. The NFL Films senior producer has been covering the league for 40 years, earning him widespread respect. So when Cosell throws out a proclamation, it shouldn’t be taken lightly.

When it comes to Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Cosell says he is the most intriguing quarterback he’s ever watched. In fact, Cosell reckons Allen might be the most physically gifted pass-thrower in NFL history.

Not too shabby.

In a new interview with Peter King in his weekly “Football Morning in America” column, the steward of NFL Films compares Allen to a prominent Hall of Fame quarterback.

“The name that often comes up, and rightly so, when the talk is of the most physically talented quarterbacks of all time is John Elway,” Cosell told King. “Allen is a much bigger man than Elway. Allen is the most intriguing quarterback I have watched and evaluated in all my years at NFL Films. It would not surprise me at all if we soon call Allen the most physically gifted quarterback the league has ever seen. Stay tuned.”

That is quite the tease.

At 6-foot-5 and 237 pounds, Allen is a monster physically — and not afraid to use his athleticism to his advantage. He’s rushed for 25 touchdowns in his career, barreling through defenders with his incredible size and shifting away from them with his sweet feet.

But that’s not all. Allen has improved dramatically as a passer in three NFL seasons, going from completing only 52% of his passes as a rookie to nearly 70% last year. He also threw for a franchise record 4,544 yards and 37 touchdowns — breaking eight Bills records in total.

Last week, Audacy Sports NFL insider Ross Tucker said on the “Howard and Jeremy Show” that Allen is the most improved quarterback he’s ever seen.

“I’ve never seen a quarterback in my life improve as much as he has the last couple of years,” Tucker told Sal Capaccio. “It’s incredible, and it’s almost exciting to see if he can do it again, and prove even more this year.”

All eyes will be on Allen, as he attempts to lead the Bills to their first Super Bowl berth since 1993.
