The Buffalo Bills are back on the road this week, getting set to take on the New York Jets this Sunday at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
Buffalo gets back to game action following a shocking 9-6 loss to the Jaguars last week in Jacksonville, resulting in the Bills' third loss of the 2021 regular season.
The last time the Bills' starting offense failed to score a touchdown in a game was Week 7 of last season on the road against the Jets. That game ended in an 18-10 win for Buffalo, but this past week was not so fortunate for the Bills.
During his weekly Buffalo Bills Football Friday appearance on the “Extra Point Show” on WGR, head coach Sean McDermott was asked about the 12 penalties his team took last Sunday against the Jaguars. He says his team has to be better at playing disciplined team football.
“There's gonna be games where it spikes like that, but we went overboard," McDermott said with Sal Capaccio and "Sneaky Joe" DiBiase. "We are well-aware the crew this week has called the most penalties of any crew in the NFL, so it has to be an ongoing attention to detail for our football team.”
The Bills will be facing quarterback sensation Mike White this week after Jets head coach Robert Salah confirmed he would start after sustaining a right forearm injury last Thursday night against the Indianapolis Colts. While rookie quarterback Zach Wilson returned to practice this week, he is not ready to return from a knee injury suffered a few weeks ago.
When asked about facing White this week, McDermott says you can see the confidence he has in his play under center.
“He looks like he gets the ball out and knows where he wants to put the football," McDermott said. "He has great command of the offense. He isn’t a rookie. He’s been in the league three or four years, so he knows what he’s doing.”
The Bills do have some good news on the injury front as McDermott confirmed wide receiver Cole Beasley, right tackle Spencer Brown and tight end Dawson Knox are all expected to play this Sunday.
Taron Johnson also got some good news as he cleared the league's concussion protocol. While Zack Moss did not get cleared from concussion protocol on Friday, he was cleared on Saturday, which bodes well for his status on Sunday.
However, the bad news comes with linebacker Tremaine Edmunds being ruled out with a hamstring injury.
Kickoff this Sunday is set for 1 p.m. EST with Paul Dottino, Eric Wood and Sal Capaccio on the call along the Buffalo Bills Radio Network.
