Bills sign quarterback Ben DiNucci

This comes after a neck injury to quarterback Shane Buechele that landed him on Injured Reserve

Orchard Park, N.Y. (WGR Sports Radio 550) - Ahead of Monday's practice at Highmark Stadium in Orchard Park, Buffalo Bills head coach Sean McDermott gave an injury update following Saturday's preseason loss to the Chicago Bears.

McDermott revealed on Monday that third-string quarterback Shane Beuchele suffered a neck injury, which ended up putting him on Injured Reserve.

With Buechele out of the picture for the Bills in their final two preseason games, the team has signed free agent quarterback Ben DiNucci, as first indicated by his agency, JL Sports.

DiNucci started his career in Dallas after being a seventh-round pick of the Cowboys in the 2020 NFL Draft out of James Madison University. There, he spent parts of three seasons with the Cowboys before being cut after training camp in 2022.

The 27-year-old has started just one game in his NFL career, which was a Week 8, "Monday Night Football" contest against the Philadelphia Eagles his rookie year.

DiNucci last saw game action in 2023, starting 10 games for the Seattle Sea Dragons of the XFL. Following a 20-touchdown season under center in Seattle, DiNucci signed with the Denver Broncos and spent the 2023 season on the team's practice squad.

The Broncos ultimately waived DiNucci earlier this year on May 8.
