Buffalo, Ny. (WGR) - The Buffalo Sabres are back on home ice once again, this time looking to get back in the win column after a loss on Thursday night. Buffalo is welcoming the Utah Mammoth for their lone visit to KeyBank Center this regular season.
The Sabres first power play goal of the season was scored on their first special teams chance of the game against Utah. Tage Thompson sent the puck to the net from a bad angle, and it found its way across the goal line.

Thompson's third goal of the season snapped Buffalo's 0-for-13 start to the power play this season. Rasmus Dahlin was credited with the only assist on the score that gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead in the first period.
Utah answered back several minutes later when Kailer Yamamoto receoved a pass from Barrett Hayton and scored into an open net. Yamamoto was able to get near the top of the crease without any defender on him, creating the goal. Hayton and Mikhail Sergachev assisted on the game-tying goal, 1-1.
The Sabres were credited with seven shots on goal in the opening period, while Utah recorded 12 shots on goal. Each team had one power play chance, Utah was unable to score on their one chance in the first.
The Mammoth entered the night with the league's leading power play and scored on a power play in the second period to take their first lead of the night. Nick Schmaltz scored his fourth power play goal, and six overall on the season, to give Utah a 2-1 lead over the Sabres in the second period. The goal came with Owen Power in the penalty box for delay of game.
Anders Lee doubled the Utah lead with his second goal of the season. He was able to score after Buffalo turned the puck over in their own zone. John Marino was credited with the lone assist on the goal that made the score 3-1 in favor of the Mammoth.
Utah's second power play goal of the game came early in the third period to extend the lead to 4-1 over the Sabres. John Marino took a shot from the blue line that made it throught traffic and into the net. It was Marino's first goal of the season.
