Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) – Now that the Rochester Americans' 2023-24 season has concluded, Sabres general manager Kevyn Adams and head coach Lindy Ruff have added Seth Appert to the coaching staff in Buffalo as an assistant coach.
Appert spent four years as Rochester’s head coach, and did a good job in developing players like Jack Quinn, JJ Peterka, Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen, Peyton Krebs, Mattias Samuelsson, Devon Levi, Jiri Kulich and Isak Rosen.
In the regular season, Appert helped lead the Amerks to a 123-94-32 record, and three appearances in the Calder Cup Playoffs.
During the 2022-23 season, Rochester went three rounds deep into the playoffs, making an appearance in the Eastern Conference Final against the Hershey Bears.
Despite being eliminated after just one round this season, Rochester finished tied for first place with the Cleveland Monsters, and took the Syracuse Crunch the distance before losing in five games.
Appert coached the Sabres for two games when former head coach Don Granato was ill, leading Buffalo to a 1-1-0 record.
Before Rochester, Appert coached for three seasons with the United States National Team Development Program. He also spent 11 seasons as the head coach at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) and nine years as an assistant at the University of Denver.
Buffalo also brought up Amir Gulati to be the team's new video coordinator.
