Buffalo, N.Y. (WGR 550) - The Buffalo Sabres announced on Wednesday the re-signing of forward Kyle Okposo to a one-year deal worth $2.5 million.
The 34-year-old served as Buffalo's captain this past season, where he scored 11 goals added 17 assists for 28 points in 75 games. The veteran earned the Rick Martin Memorial Award for the 2021-22 season, presented to the player who fans believe best embodies what it means to be a Buffalo Sabre, through on-ice excellence, resiliency and dedication to the community.

Okposo has spent the last seven seasons with the Sabres after signing as a free agent in the summer of 2016. In his 445 games with Buffalo, Okposo has scored 91 goals and tallied 132 assists for 223 total points.
The 2023-24 season will mark Okposo’s 17th season in the NHL. In his 984 games played, he has totaled 230 goals and 362 assists for 592 points. Okposo is one of 54 active players who have played in 950 or more NHL games.
Okposo was originally drafted by the New York Islanders in the first round (7th overall) of the 2006 NHL Draft, and went on to play the first nine years of his career on Long Island.
The Sabres captain is set to speak with the Buffalo media via Zoom on Thursday.
