LA's Fire Chief makes history as first out queer leader

LA Fire
LA City Fire

LA's' first openly LGBTQ+ Fire Chief, Kristin Crowley, is leading the fight against the devastating wildfires impacting millions of LA residents. She made history as the first female fire marshal in 2016 and the first openly LGBTQ+ fire chief in 2022.

Of course it wouldn't be 2025 without Chief Crowley facing social media backlash, homophobic rants and outright lies being spewed about her service from right-wing nut jobs and the usual MAGA mouthpieces. Regardless, as we queers are prone to do -- she's staying focused on the task at hand and doing her part to help mitigate what may turn out to be one the costliest natural disaster in US history.
