Marriage equality law takes effect in small European nation

The move comes after years of progress in neighboring countries—Switzerland and Austria legalized same-sex marriage in 2019, and Germany in 2017. Liechtenstein, with a population under 40,000, held its first Pride event in 2022. While the country's monarch has supported same-sex marriage, they've opposed granting adoption rights.
