In Good news on the medical front, people with HIV who need a kidney or liver transplant will be able to receive an organ from a donor with HIV under a new rule announced by U.S. health officials.
The new policy is expected to shorten the wait time for all trasnplants regardless of HIV status, by increasing the pool of available organs.
Research shows that those who received kidneys from HIV-positive donors compared to those whose donors were HIV-negative had similar high rates of survival and low rates of organ rejection. More here from the AP
