Is 'Openly Gay' An Offensive Term?

A lot of us use the term openly when we describe someone in the lgbtq+ space - I've even said this on our show and most recently we saw this as pete Buttigieg became the first "openly" gay cabinet member and Dr. Rachel Levine- nominated for assistant secretary of Health. But we might want to rethink using the term - the author of Gay Like Me: A Father Writes to His Son and he writes the monthly column, "In Gay We Trust," for The Advocate.
