“With my shadow I have cast, then a long, lustrous six more weeks of winter!”

And that’s the way it was at Gobbler’s Knob at sunrise in Punxsutawney, PA as people gathered to see Phil come out of his tree stump on Groundhog Day.

KDKA Radio’s Larry Richert, a member of the inner circle, was in attendance for the momentous occasion, in addition to Pennsylvania Lieutenant Governor John Fetterman and his wife, Gisele.

It’s as if Phil knew about the winter storm approaching the northeast as the Pittsburgh area is in a Winter Storm Watch.

A wintry mix is expected for the area beginning overnight Thursday and into Friday with ice as the biggest threat.

In addition to the ice, several inches of snow is in the forecast.
