Bruins-Blue Jackets series schedule embarrasses NBA's plodding playoff pace

Give the NHL credit. The Bruins may have just throttled the Maple Leafs in a thrilling Game 7 at the Garden, but they only have one day to bask in their glory. Boston's second-round series against the Blue Jackets begins Thursday, with the puck dropping at 7:00 p.m.

Though the NHL's second-round schedule isn't official yet, the Athletic's Aaron Portzline has outlined the likely schedule for Bruins-Blue Jackets. They are expected to play every other night, except for one two-day break between either Games 2 and 3 or Games 3 and 4 (depending on who wins Wednesday's Capitals-Hurricanes Game 7).

It's worth contrasting the NHL's playoff pace with the NBA, which slowalks all of its playoff series. For example, even though the Celtics and Bucks both swept their first-round opponents, they won't square off until Sunday.

The Bruins could likely be on their way to the Eastern Conference Finals before the Celtics and Bucks even really get going.
