Devin McCourty has spent most of his time this season staring at receivers' backsides in the end zone. But in the Patriots' 25-16 win over the Bills Monday, he burned everybody on the field.

The veteran safety came up with a huge 84-yard pick-six in the fourth quarter, sealing the victory for New England. According to the NFL's Next Gen Stats, McCourty's speed topped out at 22.5 miles per hour, the fastest any ball carrier has run this season.

It was a welcome game-changing play for McCourty, who allowed a pair of touchdowns to both the Colts and Chiefs earlier this month. The 31-year-old showed he can still run.

With the Patriots' offense looking flat –– Tom Brady and Co. didn't score a touchdown until the fourth quarter –– it was imperative for the defense to force a late turnover against the hapless Bills. And McCourty stepped up. The Patriots have 11 interceptions this season, good for third in the league.

While the Patriots seemingly allow opposing offenses to gain yards at will between the 20's, they clamp down and force turnovers. In today's high-flying NFL, that might be enough.
