Don Cherry rips NHL for dumb replay review restrictions after Bruins-Blue Jackets debacle

Bruins fans aren't the only folks who are outraged about the referees allowing play to continue after the Blue Jackets shot the puck off the netting above the goal, leading to Columbus' first and only goal of Game 4.

Legendary hockey analyst Don Cherry is peeved as well.

In the "Coach's Corner" Thursday, Cherry lambasted the NHL for not allowing those kinds of plays to be reviewable.

"It should be over the glass, and that should be reviewable," he said. "They should have a little mic: 'It hit the net, it hit the net.'"

Much like how the NFL can't review non-calls –– such as Nickell Robey-Coleman's mugging of Saints wideout Tommylee Lewis in the NFC championship –– it's amazing the NHL can't review plays that should've been whistled dead. Artemi Panarin's goal wound up not making a difference in the game's final outcome, but it could have. And then instead of hyping up Game 5 at the Garden Saturday, we would be talking about inept officiating.

The technology is there to review every substantial play. It should be used in that fashion.
