In defense of Tom Brady's ridiculous Met Gala outfit

Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback of all-time, and he appears just as comfortable at the Met Gala as he does on the football field. That is something to celebrate, not mock.

Brady got panned for his James Bond villain meets Steven Seagal look at the Met Gala Monday. But it was perfectly appropriate for the evening's festivities. The theme for this year's gala, which benefits the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute, was "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination." That would explain why Brady wore a black tuxedo with gold plates on the lapel. He was trying to give everybody a taste of that Holy realness.

Brady's outfit was actually understated in comparison to others who graced the red carpet.

Contrary to popular belief, Gisele Bundchen, who wore a sleek gold dress, says Brady is more into fashion than she is. It does not appear as if TB12 was forced to attend the event against his will.

"I've never in my life told him to wear anything," Bündchen told the Wall Street Journal's Jason Gay. "You should see our closets….It's so funny. I would say that he likes fashion more than I like fashion. I would say he's changed his haircut in one year more than I've changed in my whole life."

That's pretty cool. In my high school, the football players wouldn't be caught dead in anything besides gray sweatpants and letterman's jackets. Brady is shattering those stereotypes.

There's no need for him to sashay away from the runway.
