NESN is bringing aboard its fourth different Bruins rinkside reporter in six years. The network announced Tuesday it has hired veteran broadcaster Sophia Jurksztowicz for the role. She replaces Alex Kraemer, who departed in June.
Jurksztowicz has worked for a variety of Canadian broadcasters over the last decade, including Rogers Sportsnet, CBC News Network and Hockey Night in Canada. Just last month, she served as a reporter for CBC's coverage of the FINA World Aquatic Championships in South Korea.
"We're very excited to have Sophia join NESN," VP of Programming and Production Rick Jaffe said in a press release. "She brings a wealth of hockey knowledge and understanding of the game to our broadcasts."
Jurksztowicz, who starts Aug. 26, will work with Jack Edwards and Andy Brickley on NESN's Bruins telecasts next season.
There's been a significant amount of recent turnover with the Bruins rinkside position. Sarah Nicole Davis occupied the position from 2014-17, taking over for Jamie Erdahl, who did the job for one season. Naoko Funayama was the lead reporter from 2008-13.
Like most of NESN's personalities, Jurksztowicz could fill multiple roles at the network, especially in the offseason. Anchor Kacie McDonnell confirmed last month to WEEI.com she decided to not renew her contract with the station.
