NESN personality Guerin Austin will stake out her familiar territory on the Red Sox sideline for their opening 11-game road trip. But it's a mystery when viewers will see her next.
Austin is not on the schedule for a "couple of months" following the season's opening weeks, reports the Globe's Chad Finn. She is slated to work the home opener April 9.
NESN spokesman Gary Roy told the Globe nothing is amiss with the budding reporter, who's been with the Red Sox-owned regional network since 2014. She's signed through January.
"Guerin is under contract through the rest of the year," he said. "We expect her to do approximately as many games as she did last year.'"
Austin was the Red Sox' main sideline reporter last year, supplanting Gary Striewski. Jahmai Webster also received regular reps.
Previous female Red Sox sideline reporters have landed national gigs, such as Hazel Mae and Heidi Watney, both of whom are with MLB Network. Striewski recently landed with ESPN.
