Jackie Bradley Jr. is hitting the ball hard, but the hits haven't fallen into place. As a result, he's out of the lineup as the Red Sox begin a three-game series against the Mariners at Fenway Park Friday.
With Bradley sidelined, Andrew Benintendi slides over to center field, and J.D. Martinez will start the game in left. Blake Swihart will bat ninth and man the DH position.
It appeared as if Bradley was breaking out of his prolonged slump, but his offensive performance has plummeted over the last 10 days. He's hitting .105 since June 10.
In addition to Bradley, Eduardo Nunez is out of the lineup as well. He hasn't played since June 19. Brock Holt is slated to start at second base.
The Red Sox' complete lineup is below. Steven Wright is on the mound for the hometown nine, and he'll oppose Seattle lefty Wade LeBlanc. LeBlanc shut out the Red Sox over 7.2 innings last Saturday.
