Tom Brady reveals his diet isn't nearly as restrictive as people think: 'If I want bacon, I have a piece'

Tom Brady welcomed a writer from Men's Health to his secret training location nestled in the Bahamas islands. On the private resort's beach, the 42-year-old football cyborg goes through an intensive two- to three-hour training session, which includes everything from upper-body conditioning to throwing drills that stretch to 60 yards. Though Brady seldom throws 60 yards in a game –– his longest pass last season traveled 49.9 yards –– the purpose is to improve his accuracy and velocity for shorter throws.

The lengthy feature story represents an in-depth look at the TB12 Method as Brady reaches his mid-40s. While there aren't many new revelations for diehard Brady historians –– the article includes plenty of homages from Brady and Alex Guerrero about the power of deep tissue massage and pliability training –– the Patriots' QB does reveal his diet isn't as stringent as advertised.

Years ago, Brady's personal chef, Allen Campbell, shocked normal people everywhere when he told Boston.com the greatest of all-time is so restrictive about his diet, he doesn't even eat strawberries or tomatoes. This interview is the genesis of all those horrible avocado ice cream jokes we've been subjected to during nearly every Patriots telecast for the last several seasons.

But Brady says a lot of that has been overblown. In fact, he even rolls his eyes with writer Ben Court asks about his favorite cheat meal.

"If I'm craving bacon, I have a piece. Same with pizza. You should never restrict what you really want," Brady says. "We're humans, here for one life. What's changed as I've gotten older is now if I want pizza, I want the best pizza. I don't eat a slice that tastes like s— and then wonder, Why am I eating s— pizza?"

So there you have it. Though Brady often sticks to vegan staples such as salads and mixed nuts, he doesn't hesitate stuffing his face with a hefty slice of pizza when he gets the craving.

Just make sure it's the good stuff.
