New England is facing some question marks when it comes to pass-catchers with the retirement of Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman's thumb injury and inconsistencies from rookie N'Keal Harry, and turns to Meredith in the hopes that the talented but oft-injured wideout can help fill a hole.

An Illinois State product, Meredith's breakout season came in Chicago in 2016 when he logged 888 yards on 66 catches in 14 games, hauling in four touchdown passes in his second year as a pro. But just when it looked like a promising career was underway, Meredith blew out his knee in the Bears' third preseason game in 2017, ending his third campaign before it began. The knee continued to hamper him throughout 2018, holding him to just nine catches and 114 yards in six games in New Orleans.

Meredith ends up in New England four years after he was the subject of a prank call during the 2015 NFL Draft, when an anonymous caller claiming to be Bill Belichick told Meredith the Patriots would be selecting him with their third round pick.
