A top-10 prospect in the Red Sox system according to Baseball America, C.J. Chatham had himself a big day at the plate for Double-A Portland on Sunday, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a run in the Sea Dogs’ 3-2 loss on the road.
Chatham’s .314 batting average is the second in the Eastern League, and with some doubles power the young shortstop has a .774 OPS, 13th in the league.
His partner on the left side of the infield, top prospect Bobby Dalbec, wasn’t quite the on-base machine Chatham was on Sunday, but Dalbec hit his 15th homer of the season, most in the Eastern League.
Dalbec is in the top 10 in most offensive categories in the league, as he continues to hit well in the minors.
