There are certainly a lot of fast players in the National Football League.
But there is fast and then there is FAST.
Bill Belichick has learned to judge speed via on-field play over the years rather than with a stopwatch or even via the GPS-driven NFL Next Gen Stats that are all the rage these days.
So, what does Belichick think of Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill's speed? Is he one of the fastest players the coach has gone against in his four-plus decades in the NFL?
"Yeah, he definitely is. Does anybody not think he's the fastest player in the league?," Belichick asked during his Wednesday press conference at Gillette Stadium as he scanned the room of media with his eyes.
Asked to compare Hill historically to other fast players Belichick's teams have faced off against, the Patriots coach dismissed the need for such comparisons.
"Yeah, I mean what difference does it make? Once they are faster than everybody else, then they are faster than everybody else. Yeah, he's fast," Belichick concluded.
Hill has been timed in the 4.2s in the 40 in the past. He's missed four-plus games to injury this season, limiting him to 38 catches for 598 yards and five touchdowns.
