As the hours wind down toward Tuesday's 4 p.m. NFL trade deadline, the Patriots may or may not be in line to add to the team's undefeated roster.
"I am sure anything is possible. It's hard to say," Bill Belichick said Monday on Ordway, Merloni & Fauria. "We'll see."
New England already swung a deal with the Falcons last week for wide receiver Mohamed Sanu, but CBS Sports is predicting that the Patriots aren't done adding to Tom Brady's offensive weapons.
According to CBS, the Patriots are the most likely landing spot for Tampa Bay tight end O.J. Howard. New England reportedly showed interest in Howard previously, but was rebuffed by the Bucs. Now, apparently, Tampa is more willing to deal the former first-round pick, although it is looking for a "substantial offer."
A few hunches on where some of the most-coveted trade options end up - AJ Green/Saints (if CIN ownership accepts reality and relents on trade talks) , Trent Williams/Browns, OJ Howard/Pats, Chris Harris/Eagles, Derek Wolfe/Colts, Des Trufant/Chiefs, Robby Anderson/Jags
— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) October 29, 2019CBS has previously reported that the Patriots have been in trade talks with various teams at the deadline for various players, although that report was refuted by former New England staffer and longtime Belichick confidant Mike Lombardi, of The Athletic.
