NFL Exec.: Tom Brady 'likes the attention' heading toward free agency

Everyone seems to have an opinion on Tom Brady's future, some more informed than others.

A bit buried in a Combine notebook on The Athletic (subscription) is a comment from an NFL executive regarding all the hoopla surrounding Brady's impending free agency and the possibility that TB12 could play in a city other than New England in 2020.

The Athletic writes that the executives it polled at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine "weren't ready to predict a Brady departure from New England" despite all the various reports that he might actually be considering a future somewhere other than Foxborough.

"I think he likes the attention, so it is not going to be something that happens quickly," one executive told The Athletic.

"He is putting pressure on New England to get him some players," another told the site.

The Athletic quoted another executive questioning what Brady's career motivation is at this point, given his unmatched resume from the last 20 years with the Patriots.

"That is the missing piece," The Athletic wrote, citing another unnamed executive. "Is it financial? Is it to go win? Is it to set up TB12 for global success? Is it to make his wife happy?"

All are great questions, part of the reason for all the interest in Brady Watch, which has taken over the NFL offseason since the Super Bowl and, clearly, straight through last week's Combine.
