After arriving via trade from the Falcons last fall in exchange for a second-round pick, Mohamed Sanu's first action in New England was a massive disappointment thanks, in part, to an ankle injury.
The injury required surgery this winter.
Now, though, according a report from NFL Network, the veteran wide receiver has gotten his ankle out of the "cast/boot" it was in and is progressing through the rehab process.

— Michael Giardi (@MikeGiardi) May 13, 2020Other than slot mainstay Julian Edelman, Sanu is the only other returning veteran, experienced receiver presence on the Patriots roster as the team heads into the first season without Tom Brady at quarterback.
Sanu is in the final year of his contract with the Patriots, set to earn a $6.5 million base salary in 2020.
In his eight games played in New England last fall with six starts, Sanu caught 26 passes for 207 yards with one touchdown. Much of that production, though, came in his second game in a Patriots uniform with 10 catches for 81 yards and a score in a loss in Baltimore the week before he suffered the ankle injury in a game in Philadelphia. After missing one week of action, Sanu never had more than three catches or 35 yards in a game during the final five weeks of regular season action or the Wild Card Weekend playoff loss to the Titans.
