Michael Bennett’s short, tumultuous tenure with the Patriots has apparently come to an end.
When asked this week if he want to be traded, Bennett said it was “up to them.” Apparently the team decided that was indeed the necessary action at this point.
Arriving via trade from the Eagles this offseason – and getting a new two-year contract restructure -- Bennett’s Patriots career comes to an end after just six games played in which he saw the field for a mere 36-percent of defensive snaps. He recorded five tackles, 2.5 sacks, four QB hits and a pass defense in the limited action.
The move creates just over $2.5 million in cap space, which leaves the team having just under $3 million to work with for the remainder of the season, pending other moves.
