Just as he is on the actual game field, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is also New England’s top player in the digital world, as based on his 96 overall rating in Madden.

As is always the case this time of year, the Madden 20 player ratings created quite a buzz when they hit EASports.com on Monday.

While Brady is the top Patriots player, Houston wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald, Bears edge force Khalil Mack and Seahawks linebacker Bobby Wagner led the way with the legendary 99 overall rating.

Those were four of the 12 players with a higher rating than Brady, with Chiefs MVP Patrick Mahomes (97) the only quarterback with a better video game skillset. Of course after beating Mahomes twice last season in the real world, including in Kansas City in the AFC title game, Brady is probably quite happy to leave the young passer the Madden bragging rights while he enjoys his sixth Super Bowl ring.

After Brady the next highest-rated Patriots in Madden ratings for the latest edition of the supremely popular game are cornerback Stephon Gilmore (94), wide receiver Julian Edelman (89), safety Devin McCourty (89) and guard Shaq Mason (88).

Other notable Patriots Madden ratings include Josh Gordon, who is currently suspended by the league, earning an 83, while rookie first-round wide receiver N’Keal Harry was rated a 74, though he got a pretty impressive 88 for speed and acceleration. Madden rates Keion Crossen, Jonathan Jones and Phillip Dorsett as the fastest New England players with a 95 for speed.

Some Patriots players immediately reacted to their Madden ratings, including linebacker Kyle Van Noy sharing his displeasure with his own 77 rating overall.

Good thing I don’t play madden or I’d be mad with my 77 rating ------ !
