The Bruins didn't win the Stanley Cup this year, but they will get to see the 2017-18 banner unveiled.
On Wednesday, the NHL announced the Bruins will face off against the Capitals as Alex Ovechkin and Co. will raise their first Stanley Cup banner to rafters on October 3. The contest will be the first of the 2018-19 regular season. It will also be the first game for Capitals under their new coach, as Barry Trotz resigned this week.
The Bruins lost all three meetings with Capitals last year, as Washington scored three or more times in each of the encounters.
It will also announced the Bruins' first home game will a matinee against the Senators on October 8 at 1 p.m. The Bruins swept the season series last year.
The Bruins are rumored to have a very busy offseason, as Don Sweeney retools and tinkers with a roster that has the makeup of a Stanley Cup contender.
