Former Patriots tight end Martellus Bennett has never been shy to share his opinions.
Speaking with Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report, Bennett was asked about Jimmy Garoppolo and how he expects him to do this season.
"Let's see how Jimmy [Garoppolo] does once he faces a game plan from defenses all year," he said. "It's different when you face teams who focus on you week in and week out."
Bennett's comments hint he doesn't fully believe in Garoppolo's abilities. Despite obvious talent, Bennett wants to see how Garoppolo fares beyond base-defense packages.
Garoppolo set the NFL on fire after a mid-season trade from New England to San Francisco, leading a woeful 49ers team to a 5-0 record as a starter.
Entering his first season as the established franchise quarterback, Garoppolo will look to backup his enormous contract and expectations with a strong season and look to silence potential doubters.
