Monday Red Sox Farm Report: Brandon Phillips homers in 2nd game with Lowell Spinners

Here’s what happened in the Red Sox farm system on Sunday.

TRIPLE-A PAWTUCKET RED SOX (41-46): L, 3-2 vs Scranton/Wilkes-Barre

-- The PawSox rallied with a run in both the sixth and seventh innings, but couldn’t overcome an early 3-0 deficit.

-- Pawtucket’s offense went quiet in the loss. The PawSox totaled six hits and not a single player recorded a multi-hit game. Left fielder Aneury Tavarez had the team’s only RBI, while second baseman Ivan De Jesus Jr. logged the only double.

-- The PawSox left seven runners on base and went 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position.

-- Five Pawtucket pitchers combined for 18 strikeouts in the loss. Reliever Robby Scott struck out the side in his one inning of work, lowering his ERA to 1.15 with the PawSox.

DOUBLE-A PORTLAND SEA DOGS (34-53): L, 4-1 at Hartford

-- Portland starter Mike Shawaryn was knocked around for three runs in the third inning. He would take the loss, bringing his record to 4-7 with a 3.65 ERA. Even with the loss, Shawaryn tied his season-high with eight strikeouts.

-- The Sea Dogs mustered only five hits, two of which came off the bat of catcher Austin Rei and another two from the first baseman Josh Ockimey.

-- Third baseman Michael Chavis went 0-for-4 in the contest; he’s now 0-for-8 with five strikeouts in his two games with Portland.

HIGH-A SALEM RED SOX (42-43): W, 7-4 at Potomac

-- Salem starter Darwinzon Hernandez took a no-hitter into the sixth inning, while walking five and striking out a career-high 10 batters.

-- Shortstop C.J. Chatham led the Red Sox with three hits while also recording an RBI. Chatham’s batting average was raised to .316.

-- Center fielder Trenton Kemp launched a two-run home run in the victory, his fifth of the season.

SINGLE-A GREENVILLE DRIVE (29-51): W, 9-3 at Asheville

-- Greenville recorded 15 hits on their way to scoring nine runs in their victory.

-- First baseman Zach Sterry led the way for the Drive offense going a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate while collecting two RBI’s. The four hits match a career-high for Sterry, whose average is now up to .284.

-- Center fielder Kevin Suarez and shortstop Ryan Fitzgerald both recorded homers.

-- Starter Jhnonathan Diaz went just over six innings striking out six and giving up three earned on his way to his fifth victory of the season.

SHORT-SEASON SINGLE-A LOWELL SPINNERS (9-14): L, 10-5 vs Hudson Valley

-- The Spinners jumped out to an early lead, but Hudson Valley combined for 10 runs between the sixth and seventh innings.

-- MLB All-Star Brandon Phillips, playing in his second game since joining the Red Sox organization, launched a three-run home run.

-- Designated hitter Jarren Duran went 4-for-5 at the plate including a triple.
