The Bruins preseason finale wasn't what they were looking for.
They dropped the game 4-1 to the Flyers and ended up losing Torey Krug to a lower body injury.
Krug missed a majority of the preseason recovering from a fractured ankle, and it seems he re-injured that ankle in Saturday’s game. The talented defenseman was seen leaving TD Garden in a walking boot which could be precautionary. Krug seemed to have no problems with his ankle during the preseason, but if he misses some time Urho Vaakanainen could step in.
Vaakanainen had a tremendous preseason showcasing what he has to offer the Bruins. If Krug misses time, and Matt Grzelcyk isn’t 100 percent for the start of the regular season, Vaakanainen will likely get the nod.
In other news, Bruins rookie Anders Bjork made his preseason debut. Bjork suffered a concussion and a shoulder injury during his rookie season and missed significant time, and this was his first time playing since January.
Bjork didn’t seem as though he came back from an injury. He played very well, showcasing his speed, agility, and increased strength on the puck. The winger said he felt rusty, which is to be expected after being out so long.
